Magnolia Counseling Center was founded by Gwendolyn and John Burke to help social workers experience the same professional independence and fulfillment they found in private practice. The center provides supervision for MSW students during their second clinical practicum and offers clinical supervision services for licensed, Masters-level social workers in both Missouri and Kansas.
Through years of mentoring and supervising, Gwendolyn and John identified a growing need for a supportive environment where new clinicians could learn not only the clinical side of the work but also the business and ethical foundations of private practice. Magnolia Counseling Center was built to serve as an incubator for that growth, where supervision, mentorship, and professional development come together to help social workers develop confidence and competence on their path to independent practice.
Beyond supervision, Magnolia Counseling Center also provides group psychotherapy services focusing on anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and coping skills. In addition, the center develops and produces continuing education training for clinical counselors, social workers, and psychologists, helping professionals stay current and expand their expertise.
With a combined 55 years of clinical social work experience and more than 17 years in their own practice, Gwendolyn and John remain committed to fostering growth, independence, and community within the field of clinical social work.
